Self-care and self-love are vital to our health. Self-care is any necessary human regulatory function which is under individual control, deliberate and self-initiated.

Some place self-care on a continuum with health care providers at the opposite end to self-care. In modern medicine, preventive medicine aligns most closely with self-care.

Examples of self-care include:

  1. Aim for a healthy diet.
  2. Make time for relaxation.
  3. Keep a reflective journal.
  4. Engage with a non-work hobby.
  5. Develop a regular sleep routine.
  6. Develop friendships that are supportive.
